Dear Tim,

My mother was a friend of Ken Terry when they both lived in
Pennsylvania. After I was born, Ken became "Uncle Kenny". I only met him once,
when I was about 2 years old, at a backyard barbecue. When I got my first
record player (which doesn't date me as old as you may think), mom gave
me two of "Uncle Kenny"s records: an album called "Campfire Special"
(recorded with Ricky Rebel when Ken was banjo-picker at LLDR) and a 45rpm
single, "Winter's Touch" b/w "Reidsville Breakdown".

The last time I spoke with Ken was in the Spring of 2000, asking his
permission to record my own version of the song "Drifting and
Dreaming"(recorded with Grass Plus in 1987-see footnote). It came as a shock when
my mother Google-searched Ken's name earlier this December to find his
obituary.

As I listened again to "Winter's Touch" it somehow seemed appropriate.
I have enclosed an mp3 file of the song (copied directly from the 45rpm
record, attempts at noise-reduction had more negative than positive
effect) for inclusion on the website. It's compressed enough to be
reasonable for dial-up connections without seriously distorting the audio.
